Governor Rendell announced on April 22, 2008, that Millheim Borough has been awarded a Growing Greener Innovative Technology grant in the amount of $167,065 to upgrade the sewage treatment plant with a membrane bioreactor wastewater treatment system, which is superior to conventional systems in that it guarantees fecal coliform is removed from the effluent while also being more cost effective.

FIRE TAX
After some joint work sessions between Millheim Fire Co., Haines Twp., Millheim Borough and Penn Township, the Millheim Borough Council enacted a 1 mill fire tax effective with the 2008 budget.  This tax will be included with the real estate taxes you receive in March.  This 1 mill (.001) Fire Tax is based on the real estate valuation for each property established by the Centre County Tax Office.  This tax assists the Fire Company in maintaining the safety and protection of our residents.
