Short Description

Businesses have an opportunity to learn about importing goods and services through a seminar offered by SEDA-Council of Governments’ (SEDA-COG) Export Development Program.

It will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 16 at 200 Innovation Boulevard, State College.

This is the first import seminar SEDA-COG is hosting and is necessary because of the nature of the global economy, said Noelle Long, director of SEDA-COG’s Export program.

“Given that we are truly in a global economy, for some companies importing is simply part of an efficient supply chain. With any supply chain, be it domestic or international, it can experience changes in compliance as well as hiccups along the way. Companies need to be knowledgeable on the import side just as much as the export side,” Long said.

This course will provide an overview of import compliance strategies to help companies meet the demands of the ever-evolving challenges of a new virtual enforcement era. It will be presented by Mr. Rennie Alston from The World Academy.

To register by the Oct. 7 deadline, visit The $25 fee includes course materials and refreshments.

It is cohosted by the Penn State Small Business Development Center.

SEDA-COG’s Export Development Program serves the businesses and communities of central Pennsylvania by encouraging and facilitating economic development through growth in world trade. It is funded by the state Department of Community & Economic Development’s Office of International Business Development and Partnerships for Regional Economic Performance.
