The plan can be viewed on the SEDA-COG and Lycoming County websites: www.seda-cog.org or www.lyco.org. It is also available in hard copy form at the Lycoming County Executive Plaza Building, 330 Pine St., Williamsport and SEDA-COG's office, 201 Furnace Road, Lewisburg.
The plan was developed by the SEDA-Council of Governments (SEDA-COG) and Williamsport Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) through a process which included representatives from public, private, and nonprofit transportation services, human services transportation providers, and the general public. The last update was in 2014 and updates are typically done every five years.
Several key needs are addressed in the plan, including:
- Enhanced fixed-route services
- Enhanced shared-ride services
- Transit experience
- Transit alternatives
- Information and other assistance
- Transportation for seniors and individuals with disabilities
Potential strategies to address the gaps include:
- Activities that better coordinate transportation services and resources;
- Activities that enhance mobility; and
- Activities that improve communication, training, and organizational support.
Plan adoption is anticipated for the SEDA-COG MPO on Sept. 20 and for the Williamsport MPO on Nov. 18.
