Short Description

Body

Businesses can get an inside view of a program that can help them gain preferential access to government contracting opportunities at a webinar cosponsored by SEDA-Council of Governments’ (SEDA-COG) Procurement Technical Assistance Center.

The U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) program helps businesses in areas where business development and growth is fairly limited.

HUBZone benefits include government set-asides for HUBZone businesses; a smaller competitive arena between contractors; and a 10 percent price evaluation preference in full and open contract competitions.

In addition to covering the program and its benefits in more detail, the webinar will inform participants of HUBZones in central Pennsylvania, and give tips and tricks for the application process.

The webinar is free and will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 26. Participants must register at http://ow.ly/1pJX30lCs4t.

For more information, contact James Gerraughty, program manager of Southern Alleghenies Planning and Development Commission’s (SAP&DC) Procurement Technical Assistance Center: 814-949-6528 or jgerraughty@sapdc.org.

Cosponsors are the Procurement Technical Assistance Centers of JARI, SAP&DC, and Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

The SEDA-COG Procurement Technical Assistance Center is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the Defense Logistics Agency.

SEDA-COG’s Procurement Technical Assistance Center helps companies explore and compete in the local, state, and federal government marketplace. For more information about the SEDA-COG Procurement Technical Assistance Center, visit www.seda-cog.org/ptac/.
