Short Description

Body

Pennsylvania businesses have a unique opportunity to gain key insights on how to sell goods and services in over 50 international markets at the Bringing the World to Central PA event in Hummels Wharf, Snyder County, on Sept. 14.

With over 90 percent of the world’s purchasing power located internationally, businesses can tap into that market by meeting one-on-one with Pennsylvania’s Authorized Trade Representatives at this event for the following locations: the Arab Gulf, Australia, Canada, Central and Eastern Europe, China, Germany, India, Mexico, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom.

The event also includes exhibits and plenty of networking opportunities with regional businesses and service providers.

SEDA-Council of Governments’ (SEDA-COG’s) Export Development Program is partnering on the event, and staff will be available to offer expert assistance.

Noelle Long, SEDA-COG Export program director, said this is an excellent opportunity to tap the world’s markets in a personalized, local environment.

“This event is an excellent opportunity for companies to sit down face-to-face with our trade representatives who have the business and industry expertise to discuss market opportunities, entry and expansion strategies, distribution, regulatory concerns, and much more,” Long said. “It’s not every day that you’ll find these types of resources right in your backyard.”

The event is free and will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lunch is provided.

Registration is required, and the deadline is Aug. 30. To register, visit www.seda-cog.org/export. There, registrants can choose and rank the regions with which they would like to meet. For more information, contact Noelle Long at export@seda-cog.org or call 570-524-4491.

Cosponsors are Fulton International Group, PNC Bank, and the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development (DCED).

The trade representatives will travel to nine other locations throughout the state over the 10-day tour. It was formerly called Pennsylvania International Week and started as a week-long event but was expanded in response to its popularity with Pennsylvania’s business community.

The tour is funded in part by DCED’s Office of International Business Development. This office collaborates with its 10 regional export network partners, including SEDA-COG, to provide Pennsylvania manufacturing and service firms with export development services. This includes market research, market entry strategies, educational seminars and technical training, and access to grant programs and financing.

SEDA-COG’s Export Development team serves the businesses and communities of central Pennsylvania by encouraging and facilitating economic development through growth in world trade. It is funded by DCED’s Office of International Business Development and Partnerships for Regional Economic Performance (PREP).
