Short Description

Residents invited to apply

Jersey Shore Borough is accepting applications from low-income homeowners in need of home repairs. A HOME grant has been awarded which will continue what has been a successful owner-occupied housing rehabilitation program. Priority for this grant will be wards 1 and 2, though all Borough residents are invited to apply.

Eligible work includes roofing, structural repairs, electrical and plumbing work, furnace replacement, and more. Energy-saving improvements such as replacement windows and storm doors may be included. Accommodations for physical handicaps may be eligible. Inspections for lead-based paint and radon will be conducted and mitigation performed where appropriate.

Homeowners who are accepted for the program will need to commit to a mortgage that is forgiven over a period of five years, during which time there would be a financial consequence to selling the home. There is no cost to owners who continue to live in their homes for a five-year period beginning at contract signing.

SEDA-Council of Governments’ (SEDA-COG) staff will verify applicants’ eligibility, coordinate the property inspections, and oversee the contractor bidding and construction process.

Interested homeowners may contact SEDA-COG’s Sue Goddard at 1-800-326-9310 for a prequalifying application.
