Short Description

Have you felt the impacts of flooding or flood insurance? If you missed the first public meeting in March that addressed these issues, the Borough of Newport and SEDA-Council of Governments (SEDA-COG) invite you to the second public meeting to learn about a flood resiliency initiative.

The meeting will be like the one in March, to include a review of flood mitigation ideas, to gain a better understanding of residents’ needs, and to discuss preliminary survey results. The Borough’s planning process involves an early assessment of structures located in the 100-year floodplain.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on April 10, 2017, at the Newport Fire Department, 301 Mulberry St., Newport.

SEDA-COG received Appalachian Regional Commission funding to undertake a flood resiliency initiative in several communities in the state’s central region. Newport Borough Council is undertaking the flood resiliency endeavor in partnership with SEDA-COG.

For more information, contact Patricia Bowers, Newport Borough, at 717-567-3728, or Teri Provost, SEDA-COG, at 1-800-332-6701.
