Fall is around the bend, and with it comes time to enjoy fall foliage and Halloween on passenger train excursions. Tickets are available now to enjoy the crisp, colorful season.
Catawissa Fall Train Ride – Oct. 8
Travel in vintage passenger cars, enjoying the views of the Susquehanna River, Mountains and the fall foliage on a nostalgic train ride Oct. 8. Enjoy music as you learn about historical sites.
The 2-hour train ride on the North Shore Railroad starts at the Catawissa Legion (105 Legion Road, Bloomsburg) near the old Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western train station and travels to Northumberland and back. The American Legion will be serving beverages, hot sandwiches, and lunch.
Trains will run at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 plus processing fees and are non-refundable. Children 3 years and under are free.

Bellefonte Halloween Ride – Oct. 21
Kids can wear costumes and eat candy from characters on a spooky Halloween ride on Oct. 21. The hour-long train rides on the Nittany & Bald Eagle Railroad start at Bellefonte and end at the Fish Hatchery on Axemann Road. The $10 rides are at 6 and 8 p.m. The rides are sponsored by the Bellefonte Historical Railroad Society.

Bellefonte Fall Foliage Train Rides – Oct. 22, 23
Take a leisurely trip on the Nittany & Bald Eagle Railroad at 10 a.m. on Oct. 22 from Bellefonte to Pleasant Gap for $15.
At 1 p.m., another train ride ($30) goes from Bellefonte to Tyrone with a 1-hour layover in Tyrone. Explore the Tyrone Area Historical Society's museum, purchase snacks and baked goods, and observe freight and passenger trains on the Norfolk Southern mainline.
On Oct. 23, enjoy more fall foliage from Bellefonte to Sayers Dam at 1 or 4 p.m. Tickets are $20.

Williamsport Fall Foliage Excursion – Oct. 29
Join your family for the Fall Foliage Train Excursions at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 29. The Lycoming Valley Railroad rides travel from Maynard Street in Williamsport to Muncy. They are sponsored by the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce.

Bring your kids to the Great Pumpkin Express train rides Oct. 30. Rides go from Maynard Street in Williamsport to the Williamsport Regional Airport in Montoursville. The Lycoming Valley Railroad rides are at noon, 2 p.m., and 4 p.m.

North Shore Railroad donates the locomotive and crew, and Jeff Pontius and his Penn Valley Railroad LLC, own the passenger trains. The SEDA-COG Joint Rail Authority receives no funds from the region’s passenger excursions, but pays for the special liability insurance policy for excursions throughout the year.
