Short Description

Body

SEDA-Council of Governments’ Executive Director Dennis Robinson has been chosen as one of the top 100 people by Pennsylvania Business Central for his leadership in improving the economy and quality of life in central Pennsylvania.

Robinson’s professional career spans over 51 years focusing on regional planning, management and development activities. The first nine years of work centered on private sector consulting activities with TEC-SEARCH INC., E.B.A.S.C.O. Industries, and as a partner for three years with Environetic Research, a planning, management and engineering consulting firm based in Chicago.

Robinson was hired by SEDA-COG in 1973 to facilitate the 11-county planning and development activities to improve the economy, environment and quality of life in central Pennsylvania. He has been executive director for 39 years and has overseen the staff transition of a fledgling agency of 13 professionals to a current staff of 99 serving 13 diverse programmatic departments. SEDA-COG performs public interest consulting in collaboration with member counties. Under its umbrella, a Joint Rail Authority, Local Loan Development Corporation, Housing Development Corporation, and Foundation were established.

Robinson’s career, which has blended both private and public sector experience, has taught him that, to be successful, neither private enterprise nor public sector service can settle for mediocrity.

This philosophy, coupled with high employee morale and a very dedicated, highly qualified staff, has enabled SEDA-COG to be very successful in its endeavors.

For more than 20 years, the Pennsylvania Business Central has entered the new year by celebrating the top 100 people in its expanding readership that have accomplished both personal and financial success with an honest sense of direction imbued in them by mentors, personal experiences, failures and successes.

The editorial team had hundreds of nominations to select from to form this year’s list.
